Rebecca Conard
Cohocton Town AssessorI am running for Assessor of the Town of Cohocton. I ask for your support. With the recent property re-assessments, many taxpayers have received property tax increases that are much higher than those of their neighbors with similar properties. An examination and comparison of like properties shows that the current 100 per cent market evaluation favors certain property owners, while penalizing others. This is not right. There should be no favoritism in tax assessments. All property owners should be treated equally. There should be one objective market standard applied to all properties. I have been a resident of Cohocton for two years. I grew up in Naples, and graduated from Naples Central School. I owned and operated a New York State licensed home for psychiatric patients for 20 years. I then ran a home for the elderly, through Ontario County, for seven years. Presently, I am head baker at Joseph's Wayside market in Naples. I also help produce the locally made "Woodstead" sauces. My husband Doug and I have been married for 30 years. We have two children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. I will perform my duties as Assessor, honestly and fairly. Please support me in the general election on November 6.
